LTK: (Laser Thermal
Keratoplasty)
Definition
Refractive surgery that corrects for hyperopia
Procedure
LTK uses a holmium (YAG) laser to burn the cornea in
a circumferential fashion. The resulting contraction
of the cornea, steepens the central portion of the cornea,
causing the cornea to correct small amounts of hyperopia.
Uses
Persons with hyperopia ranging between +0.75 -> +2.75 can benefit
from LTK. Ideal candidates have less than .75D of astigmatism.
The procedure is often used to fix over-corrections after Lasik or PRK.
